After anal surgery
As the anaesthetic wears off, any pain in the wound will be helped by the medication prescribed.
The effect of the tablets is limited between 4 and 6 hours, which is why they should be taken alternately every 4 hours.
For additional pain, you can take drops (e.g. 20 NOVALGIN drops) or long-lasting preparations (e.g. DOLZAM RETARD).
Stools don't interfere with wound healing - on the contrary! Don't hold it in, don't squeeze it out. Then take a sitz bath (e.g. 2-3 tablespoons of salt in 3-4 litres of lukewarm water) or a lukewarm shower. Afterwards, spread a cream on a compress and apply it to the wound.

In the coming days and weeks, secretion (yellow and green) and traces of blood (sometimes with an unpleasant odour) are possible. This is completely normal. There is nothing to worry about.
If one or more of the following symptoms appear in the following days, please contact us.

Ligature with a rubber ring

You have had a haemorrhoid tied with a small rubber ring.
This tissue ligature is now shrinking and will fall off with the small rubber ring in 2 to 3 weeks, often without you noticing.
Sometimes when the rubber ring and the fabric fall off, there is a slight bleeding. This is normal, so don't worry.
Very rarely, heavier bleeding occurs. If this does not stop, pleasecontact us or go to the nearest hospital.
If necessary (pressure or pain in the anus), we recommend taking a painkiller (Ibuprofen or Dafalgan).
You are still able to work, but you should not to do much sport for the next few days.
Please avoid taking medicines containing aspirin, as this may lead to increased secondary bleeding.
