Psyllium (Plantago ovata, Psyllium husk) are the seeds of a plant in the plantain family.
Unlike other dietary fibres, psyllium contains around 20-30% swelling substances. This means that psyllium can retain more than 40 times its own weight in water.
Increased stool volume stimulates digestion and helps combat constipation, but in the case of diarrhoea or very loose stools, these can also be significantly improved by psyllium as a stool regulator.
Furthermore, psyllium has a very positive effect on our metabolism and digestion, and increases the feeling of satiety. It is precisely in the case of metabolic disorders such as high cholesterol or high blood sugar levels that it is generally important to ensure a sufficient intake of dietary fibre.

- Very often, as the condition of the intestinal flora improves over time, these feelings of bloating diminish.
- You can reduce the amount of Psyllium by taking just a quarter or half a sachet.
Utilisation:
To begin with, take one sachet of Psyllium a day. Mix the sachet of Psyllium briefly in a glass of water and drink it immediately. Then drink a further glass of water.
You need to drink at least 1.5 litres a day.
Cave:
For patients suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, we recommend starting with a teaspoon or half a packet. If tolerated well, you can increase intake to 3 times a day without any problem.
